Whether you’re moving out, redecorating, or simply ready for a fresh look, removing WAW Decors peel & stick wallpaper is designed to be as easy as the installation. Whether you chose our Fabric Peel & Stick for its texture or our Smooth 3M Graphic Film for its sleek finish, following the right steps will leave your walls in pristine condition.

Here is our expert guide to a damage-free removal.

The Secret to Easy Removal: Temperature

The adhesive on our products performs best for removal at standard room temperatures (65–75°F / 18–24°C).

Cold Walls: In cold environments, the adhesive can become stiff and brittle, making the paper more likely to tear.

The Fix: If the room is cold, turn up the heat or use a hair dryer to gently warm the surface before you begin peeling.

Step-by-Step Removal Process

Step 1: Start from the Top Corner

Find the top corner of a strip. Use your fingernail or a plastic scraper to gently lift the edge. Important: Avoid using metal tools, as they can easily scratch or gouge the underlying wall surface.

Step 2: The 45-Degree Rule

Slowly pull the strip back toward itself at approximately a 45-degree angle. Pull with a slow, steady motion. Never yank or pull forcefully, as fast movements are the primary cause of paint damage.

Step 3: Apply Heat for Stubborn Areas

If you encounter a section that resists release, use a hair dryer on a low heat setting. Hold it about 6 inches from the wall for 20–30 seconds. This softens the adhesive bond, allowing the material to release cleanly.

Step 4: Final Surface Check

WAW Decors products are engineered to leave no residue. However, if any slight tackiness remains:

Dampen a cloth with warm water and a drop of mild dish soap.

Gently rub the area and dry it immediately with a clean towel.

Why Would Paint Peel?

Paint damage is rare with WAW Decors materials when applied to properly prepared surfaces. Damage typically only occurs if:

The wall was painted less than 4 weeks before installation (the paint was not fully cured).

The paint used was of low quality with poor wall adhesion.

There was already existing peeling or damaged paint on the wall.

A Note for Renters

Our peel & stick products—especially the Fabric Peel & Stick—are designed with your security deposit in mind. They are tested on standard latex-painted drywall to ensure a clean release. For absolute peace of mind, we always recommend applying a small test strip in an inconspicuous area for 24 hours before your full installation.
